Stone Retaining Walls in Douglasville
Natural stone and boulder retaining walls built for West Georgia's red clay and rolling terrain.
A stone retaining wall does two jobs at once: it holds back a slope and it looks like it was always part of the property. We build dry-stacked and mortared fieldstone walls, boulder retaining walls, and stone-faced walls across Douglasville, Dallas, Hiram, and the rest of West Georgia — each one set on a compacted base with proper drainage behind it, because a stone wall without drainage is just a pile of rocks waiting to move.
Stone is the right call when you want a wall that outlasts the house, handles Georgia's freeze-thaw winters without flaking, and fits older neighborhoods and wooded lots where a block wall would look out of place. For steeper or taller slopes, we'll tell you honestly when engineered block is the safer, cheaper answer — and we build those too.
Every stone wall we build comes with a written 10-year warranty and a free on-site estimate. Call or text (706) 477-7905 and we'll walk your slope with you.

Retaining Wall Knowledge
I've been writing about retaining walls because most homeowners get ripped off by contractors who prey on ignorance. Read my guides and you'll know exactly what you need, what it should cost, and what questions to ask any contractor — including me.

"Most retaining wall failures I repair aren't from bad materials — they're from no drainage behind the wall. Hydrostatic pressure will destroy any wall eventually. That's the one thing every homeowner needs to know."— The Wall Guy, Douglasville GA
Different materials have very different lifespans — and so does proper vs. improper installation. Here's what 15 years in the field has taught me.
Hydrostatic pressure is invisible until your wall is leaning. I've repaired hundreds of walls that failed for this single, preventable reason.
Real numbers from a real contractor. I'll break down cost per square foot by material, what drives prices up, and how to avoid getting overcharged.
Both look great. They have very different costs, lifespans, and best-use cases. Here's how I decide which one to recommend for each job.
A leaning wall isn't always a dead wall. I'll show you the warning signs that mean repair vs. full replacement — and how to avoid being upsold.
Red clay is heavy, expansive, and drainage-resistant. Walls built for other soil types often fail here. This is what makes North Georgia different.
Walls four feet and taller usually need a permit and stamped engineering. Here's how the 4-foot rule works in Douglas and Paulding counties.
Simple Process. No Surprises.
I keep it straightforward. No salespeople, no bait-and-switch. Just honest work from start to finish.
I come to your property, look at the problem firsthand, and give you a straight assessment — including whether you actually need a wall or just a drainage fix.
You get a detailed written estimate. No vague "starting at" numbers. I tell you exactly what materials, what method, and what the final price is.
I show up on the agreed date with my crew. We work clean, we work fast, and we don't leave until the job is done right. No disappearing acts.
Every job leaves with a written 10-year warranty. If something goes wrong with our work, I come back and fix it. Simple as that.

Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers about retaining walls, pavers, pricing, and how we work — no sales pitch required.
How much does a retaining wall cost in Douglasville, GA?
Most residential retaining walls in Douglasville, Dallas, and Hiram run between $3,000 and $15,000 depending on length, height, drainage, access, and the block or stone selected. The only way to get an accurate price is to see the site, so we offer free, no-pressure estimates.
What areas do you serve?
We are based in Douglasville, GA and work across Douglas, Paulding, Carroll, Haralson, and surrounding counties. Common service areas include Douglasville, Dallas, Hiram, Powder Springs, Villa Rica, Bremen, Temple, Carrollton, Marietta, Acworth, Emerson, Lithia Springs, and Austell.
Do you offer a warranty?
Yes. We back our retaining walls with a 10-year workmanship warranty. We also stand by our “no-fail guarantee” — if something isn’t right, we make it right.
How long does a retaining wall project take?
Most residential walls are completed in 1 to 5 days once construction starts. Larger engineered walls, tiered walls, or projects with drainage complications can take longer. We give you a realistic timeline during your free estimate.
Can you fix a wall that is already leaning or cracking?
Absolutely. Retaining wall repair is one of our specialties. We assess whether the wall can be stabilized or if replacement is the safer long-term solution, and we’ll tell you honestly which path makes the most sense.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. We are a licensed and insured retaining wall contractor in Georgia with 15+ years of experience and over 500 retaining walls completed.
Do you handle drainage as part of the wall?
Yes — and it isn't optional. Every wall we build gets the drainage it needs: clean gravel backfill, perforated drain pipe, filter fabric, and where the grade calls for it, a French drain or surface water management. Poor drainage is the number one reason walls fail in Georgia clay.
What materials do you build with?
Engineered modular concrete block, natural stone (dry-stacked or mortared), boulders, and treated timber. Block is the workhorse for most yards, stone is the premium look, boulders suit natural slopes, and timber is the budget option — though it won't last as long as block or stone.
Can you build tiered walls or terraces on a steep slope?
Yes. Steep grades are usually better handled with two or three terraced walls than one tall one — it spreads the load, drains better, and gives you usable flat space between levels. We assess the slope and soil on site before recommending a layout.
Can a retaining wall be tied into a patio, fire pit, or steps?
That's most of what we do. Walls get built with seat caps, planter beds, integrated steps, patios, fire pits, and low-voltage lighting so the finished yard reads as one project instead of a wall with stuff next to it.
Do I need a permit for my retaining wall?
In most Georgia jurisdictions, walls four feet and taller (measured from the bottom of the footing) need a permit and stamped engineering. Under four feet usually doesn't. We handle the permit process when it applies — see our Georgia permit guide for the details.
What do you inspect on a wall that's already failing?
We look at the whole system, not just the visible damage: cracking, bulging or leaning courses, water pooling or seeping through the face, settling at the base, and the soil behind the wall. That tells us whether it's a drainage problem, a foundation problem, or an overloaded wall — and whether a repair will actually hold.
Ready to Fix That Wall?
Free estimates. No pressure, no obligation. I'll come look at your property and give you an honest answer — even if that answer is "you don't actually need us." Serving Douglasville, Dallas, Hiram, Powder Springs, and all of Paulding County.
